I've always been interested in language, both my native Norwegian and foreign languages. I've studied several languages to different levels: English and German in school, and later also Spanish, Dutch, Japanese, and Polish. One of the interesting cultural aspects of studying a language is discovering etymology - where the words come from and how they travel between languages. One soon discovers that no language is "pure" - all languages borrow words from other languages, always for a convenient and practical reason but also often to the chagrin of language purists (including to me!) "Ordvandring" means "word wandering" - words travel between languages, and in this blog we also travel between languages following random words.
